The first week in April brings with it a lot of changes, for holidays these are effective from the first of the month.
But first ....
Have you carried over leave due to COVID and managed to take it?
If you had leave not taken during COVID you could carry this over, but this entitlement ended on 1 January 2024, and it has to be used by the end of this month.
Part-year & Irregular hours workers' holiday entitlement changes
Calculations
If your leave year starts on or after 1 April 2024, holiday entitlement for some workers who meet the definition of part-year worker or work irregular hours will accrue at a rate of 12.07 % of the number of hours worked in each pay period (or it could be higher if the worker is entitled to more than the statutory minimum). This change, it is hoped, should simplify calculating holiday entitlement.
Rolled-up holiday pay
If you are an employer or part-year worker/irregular-hours worker there will be an option for employers to opt to pay rolled-up holiday pay; an uplift to pay of 12.07 % for holiday pay, rather than calculating and paying holiday pay at the time you take the holiday.
